No one expected things to be rosy for Monona Drive businesses during the construction. And a recent article on Madison.com indicates that the restaurants are the hardest hit.
Talking with local business owners we have to agree with the article’s assessment.
The businesses are down (estimates range from 6-20% drop in revenues), but they have been preparing for this, and the community is doing a great job to visit the establishments. But the restaurants, who rely on people from outside Monona, are hurting.
David’s Jamaican reports that business is down 50%. Rosario’s is now closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Edo Garden was up for sale at one point – not sure if it still is.
So again, we make our pleas to support our local businesses.
And read the article at Madison.com. It’s pretty informative.
